What Is a Paper Cutting Guide?

Our 3D printed Paper Cutting Guides are reusable sizing templates designed to help makers quickly and consistently prepare paper for bookbinding, journaling, notebook making, planners, paper crafts, and other projects.

Instead of measuring the same dimensions over and over, simply use the appropriately sized guide as your reference when preparing your paper.

The dimensions are built directly into the guide and displayed on all four sides, along with directional arrows and measurement lines. This makes it easy to identify your guide regardless of which direction it is facing on your workspace.

These are especially useful for makers who regularly produce multiple books, journals, notebooks, or other paper products in the same sizes.

Every standard guide includes its dimensions on all four sides. Why all four?

Because we don't want you stopping in the middle of a project to rotate your guide just to figure out which one you grabbed. Whether it is sitting vertically, horizontally, upside down, or hanging in your workspace, the size remains easy to identify.

Each guide also includes four corner holes for convenient storage.

About Our 3D Printed Products

Each cutting guide is produced using 3D printing technology.

Because of the process, visible layer lines, subtle surface texture, and small variations are normal characteristics of 3D printed products. These characteristics are not necessarily defects and are part of how the product is manufactured.

Colors shown in photographs are representative examples. Actual color can vary slightly due to:

• Computer and mobile screen settings

• Natural differences in 3D printing materials

Each guide is individually produced, so minor cosmetic variations between pieces are normal.

Custom guides can be made up to 10 inches. Please double check your measurements before submitting your order, since your guide will be created specifically to the dimensions you provide.

This gives them the information they actually need, but it still feels like they're buying from you, not reading a manufacturer's instruction manual.

Adding your logo is a great way to make your guide uniquely yours, especially if you create content, demonstrate your work, livestream, or use your guide while filming. Your business name or logo can remain visible while you're working.

3D Printed Logo

For most logos, this is the best all around option. Your logo is incorporated directly into the guide, creating a permanent design with no sticker or additional material applied.

This works best for simple logos and designs without extremely fine details. Because the logo is part of the 3D print, you can also customize it later. If you'd like more contrast, the recessed design can be painted, and you may choose to seal or epoxy the surface afterward using products compatible with the printed material.

Laser Engraved Logo

Laser engraving creates your logo directly on the finished guide without adding ink or another material. However, the final appearance depends heavily on the filament color and material.

Some colors engrave darker, while others may appear gray, lighter, muted, or have very little contrast. Because of this, a laser engraved logo may look great in person but be harder to see on camera, particularly during livestreams, videos, or photography. Exact engraving color and contrast cannot be guaranteed.

Custom Logo Sticker

If your logo is colorful, detailed, shaded, or uses several colors, the sticker option is usually the best way to preserve its original appearance and vibrancy.

Your custom logo sticker is provided separately and is not applied to the guide. This allows you to decide exactly where and how you would like it positioned. You can apply it as is or, if desired, use a compatible epoxy or protective coating afterward to create a more permanent finished surface.

Standard custom logo stickers will be no larger than 4 x 7 inches. Your sticker will be sized appropriately for your guide and logo while staying within this maximum size.

Not sure which one to choose?

For a simple logo and maximum versatility, consider 3D Printed. For the engraved look, choose Laser Engraved, keeping the contrast limitations in mind. For a colorful or highly detailed logo, Custom Logo Sticker will usually preserve the artwork best.

Each Paper Cutting Guide is individually made using 3D printing technology. Unlike an injection molded product, a 3D printed item is created one layer at a time, so small variations are a natural part of the process.

What is normal with 3D printing?

You may notice visible layer lines, subtle surface texture, a small seam where printed layers begin and end, slight variations in sheen, or occasional minor surface marks. These are normal characteristics of 3D printing and are not considered defects.

Every guide is quality checked before shipping. 

Normal characteristics of 3D printing should not be confused with poor print quality. If a seam is unusually deep, there are excessive surface imperfections, the guide is noticeably warped, or the finished product does not meet our quality standards, it will not be shipped.

Colors may vary slightly.

The colors shown in our photographs are representative examples. Actual shades can vary between filament manufacturers and even between different batches or spools of the same color. Photography, lighting, and your phone or computer screen can also affect how a color appears.

If you order more than one guide in the same color, we will make every reasonable effort to keep them consistent, but an exact color match between separately produced items cannot always be guaranteed.

Protect your guide from excessive heat.

3D printed materials can soften or warp when exposed to excessive heat. Do not leave your guide in a hot vehicle, near a heater or other high heat source, or in prolonged direct sunlight.

Your guide is a measuring and positioning tool.

These guides are designed to help with measuring, sizing, positioning, and setting up your paper cutter or guillotine. They are not intended to be used as a cutting surface. Avoid repeatedly running craft knives, rotary cutters, or other sharp blades directly against the guide, as this may damage the edges and eventually affect its accuracy.

If your guide arrives broken, significantly warped, incorrectly sized, or otherwise unable to perform its intended function, please contact us so we can make it right.

Using Your Guide

Your Paper Cutting Guide can be used in several ways depending on your cutting setup and preferred workflow.

Setting Your Paper Cutter or Guillotine:

Place the guide on your cutting board in the same position where your paper will be placed. With the cutting blade safely down, position the guide against the blade and adjust your cutter's movable ruler, paper stop, or measurement guide until it sits securely against the opposite edge of the template. Lock the measurement guide into position.

Raise the blade, remove the template, and place your paper against the measurement guide. Your cutter is now positioned for the selected paper size, allowing you to make repeated cuts at the same measurement without having to measure each sheet individually.

This is especially useful when cutting multiple sheets for journals, handmade books, bookbinding projects, inserts, covers, and other projects where consistent sizing is important.

Using as a Measuring or Positioning Guide: The template can also be placed directly over your paper or material to help with measuring, positioning, marking, and checking dimensions before cutting.

When Using Sharp Cutting Tools: The guide is intended primarily as a measuring, sizing, and positioning tool. Avoid cutting directly into the 3D printed guide with craft knives, rotary cutters, or other sharp blades. Repeated contact with a cutting blade can nick or damage the plastic edges and may eventually affect the accuracy of the guide.

Safety: Always follow the manufacturer's safety instructions for your paper cutter, guillotine, rotary cutter, or other cutting equipment. Keep hands and the template clear of the cutting path before operating the blade.

Cleaning:

Wipe clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For additional cleaning, use mild soap and water, then dry thoroughly.

Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, acetone, abrasive cleaners, or abrasive scrubbers. These may discolor, soften, scratch, or otherwise damage the 3D printed material.

Heat & Storage: 3D printed materials can be affected by excessive heat. Do not leave your guide in a hot vehicle, near heaters, on hot equipment, or in prolonged direct sunlight. Excessive heat may cause the guide to soften or warp.

Store your guide flat whenever possible. Each guide includes four corner holes that also allow it to be stored on hooks, pegs, or binder rings to help keep your workspace organized.

Personalized Guides: For laser engraved or 3D printed personalization, avoid aggressive scrubbing over the personalized area.

If you select a custom logo sticker, the sticker will be supplied separately for you to apply yourself. Make sure the surface is clean and completely dry before application. If you choose to add epoxy or another protective coating after applying your sticker, please follow the coating manufacturer's instructions and verify that the product is compatible with the guide material.

Because each guide is individually 3D printed, minor variations in layer lines, surface texture, finish, and color are normal characteristics of the manufacturing process. These variations make each piece slightly unique and are not necessarily considered defects.

Orders are carefully packaged to ensure they arrive safely. Most items ship within 2 to 3 business days.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the package weight and delivery location. Smaller items such as keychains, straw toppers, and mini tumblers are typically shipped in padded mailers.

Personalized and Custom Items

Personalized or custom made items cannot be returned or refunded. These items are created specifically for each order and cannot be resold.

Custom Order Cancellations

Custom and personalized orders may be canceled within 1 hour of the time the order is placed. To receive a cancellation and refund, you must contact FloridayCreations within this 1 hour cancellation window. After 1 hour has passed, the order is considered final and work may begin. Once the cancellation window has ended, custom and personalized orders cannot be canceled or refunded, including any custom design fees.

Damaged Items

If your order arrives damaged during shipping, a replacement will be provided as long as the buyer contacts FloridayCreations within 24 hours of receiving the product. Please include clear photos of the damaged item and the packaging it arrived in. If contact is made after the 24 hour window, the request will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Standard Items

Non personalized items may be eligible for return within 5 days of delivery if the item is unused and in its original condition. Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs.

If you receive the wrong item or an error was made by FloridayCreations, please contact us as soon as possible so the issue can be corrected.
